Why I have decided to transition from traditional Physical Therapy to a more holistic approach

Updated: Jun 7, 2020

I've been a physical therapist for 10 years and over those years healthcare has changed so much. Treatment times are shorter, co-pays are larger, it's more about assembly line care, and insurance than the clients well-being. I started becoming stressed out, frustrated, and burned out by traditional physical therapy. I chose a career in physical therapy to help others recover from injury or trauma.

I have transitioned to a more holistic approach because of the results I have witnessed in my own healing journey. In 2016, after years of struggling with my own pain and functional deficits a friend insisted I see someone who specializes in CranioSacral Therapy, Visceral, and Neural Manipulation. In the first session I noticed vast relief in my pain and dysfunction and I knew I had to learn more. I started studying CranioScaral Therapy & Visceral Manipulation through the Upledger & Barral Institutes, as well as pelvic floor dysfunction through Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation. I also have been able to assist clients resolve their pain and dysfunction by using these very gentle forms of light-touch therapy that releases restrictions around the central nervous system. That way every other system in the body can self-correct and free itself of pain and dysfunction. I am passionate about supporting moms during fertility, pregnancy, and in postpartum to assist in the body's innate ability to heal.

I believe everyone needs a healthcare practitioner who sees you as a whole person, and doesn't treat just a part of you. Someone who will listen to you, holds space, and coaches you through your healing process. The opportunity to work with a healthcare provider who releases restrictions from the source so you can move into a state of good health rather than falling back into old habits. A gentle solution that helps you release long-held patterns of pain and dysfunction.

What I love about using a holistic approach is I am able to connect, listen, and allow for deep healing to occur. It’s not just about relieving the pain or restoring function. It’s really about your journey to optimal health and wellness! Total renewal, and creating balance for the your body, mind, and spirit.

If you’re curious about how this work could help you, I’d be happy to set up a free, private phone consult. No pressure. And no strings attached. How does that sound?
